Our Equipment
We are often asked about the equipment we use as many people seem to think we use backing tapes but this is most definitely not the case. Everything you hear at one of our gigs is generated live and in real time (the proof is that occasionally you will hear us make a mistake). Yes, it sounds like a full band. Yes, you will hear other voices not just the lead singer. However, all this is achieved using the equipment shown below...

The Arranger Keyboard
The powerhouse behind our sound is what's known as an Arranger Keyboard. In this instance, it's a Yamaha PSR-S950. It looks like most other keyboards. However, an Arranger Keyboard gives the musician the ability to add, remove and control a whole host of virtual musicians. It's just like having a full band behind you but everything is controlled by one person!

The Vocal Harmoniser
Enhancing this partially virtual band are the backing/harmony vocals. These additional voices are virtual but live. In this instance, we use a TC Helicon Perform-VK vocal harmoniser. It listens to the notes being played live through the keyboard together with the singer's live vocals coming through the microphone. It then instantaneously provides perfect vocal harmonies as and when the musician wants them.

The PA System
Finally, with all this technology, both the live and virtual sounds eventually have to make their way to the audience. We use a pair of LD Systems Maui 5 line array speakers. These are compact and very light. However, each one on its own can fill a room of up to 150 people with no problem. The two together just add to the whole experience!
